Liesl Ruehlmann
Founding partner
Handles contract and partner disputes for owner-run companies, on both sides of the caption.
Liesl started out writing hourly invoices at a larger firm and watching clients ration their calls to her. She started the firm to price litigation the way her clients price their own work. She handles contract and partner disputes, often for companies of under fifty people, and she prepares every mediation as if it were a hearing.

How Liesl starts a case
She asks for three things before the first meeting: the contract, the last letter from the other side, and a one-page timeline in the client's own words. Most of what she needs to know is in those.
She writes the first-look note herself, and if she thinks a case isn't worth its cost she says so in the first paragraph.
